We run Lync internally and have everyone using Lync client on their workstation. By default Lync seems to automatically create an Outlook contact for users who they have added to their contact list in Lync, or have had Lync conversations with, not sure exactly. Those contacts in Outlook seem to get updated as the AD account information changes. My question is that when a user leaves the company will those contacts in outlook be automatically removed? It causes issues when you search in Lync for John and you have multiple John's in the company, some who have left, they appear to still be listed, but they are listed because you have them in your Outlook contact which Lync put there in the first place.
I hope that when you delete a user from AD and remove their Lync account that the contact that Lync created in Outlook would be deleted, but I am not sure if that is what actually happens. Anyone know for sure?
