Hello All,

We are noticing some inconsistencies in regards to what’s being displayed in our Lync Contacts. When diving deeper into this, we noticed some users have modified "Full Name" field in Outlook contacts to names which they please then it replicates onto Lync.

We would like to standardize our Lync contact list using lastname, firstname format but the only options right now I am aware of doing this is making sure users don't have local contacts saved in their Outlook which we have gone ahead and globally disabled feature "Save my Lync contacts in my personal contacts folder on the Exchange server" to ensure up-to-date contact details are collected from the GAL.

Is there anything else the group can recommend, as its creating a bit of a nuisance with non-technical users?

lync on websearch only but updates from active directory are not processed.

Hello,

I use "websearch only" for "addressbookavailability". This is working fine on all client.

I have a problem with changes in active directory. When we change for example "job title" of someone then the old "job title" stays present on lync client. When i do a reset of the client of a new installation the new "job title" is present.

Although we use "websearch only" for some changes it seems that the local address book of lync is still used.
Does someone know how i can force a lync client to also query active directory for this.
I know that the lync server updates every night but on many clients the local address book is not updated.

How to delete "Lync Contacts" in Outlook 2013?

Hi,

I'm using Lync 2013 and outlook 2013, the backend system is Exchange Server 2013 and Lync Server 2010.

I found that in Outlook 2013 People tab, there's a "Lync Contacts" folder under "My Contacts", which is created by Lync 2010 client enabled by option "Save my Lync contacts in my personal contacts folder on Exchange", and when I want to delete any contact under "Lync Contacts", a pop-up windows displayed and said: you cannot make changes to contents of this read-only folder.

I reinstalled Lync 2010 client back, and check the option "Save my Lync contacts in my personal contacts folder on Exchange" is not selected.

So, anyone can tell me how to delete the "Lync Contacts"?


Lync 2010 Populating Contact Card - Event 21034

Hello all - 

Question - we are getting the Event ID 21034. I understand why, but my question is this. In ADUC we have the Telephone Number (DID) in the Office Field listed as xxx.xxx.xxxx and the Extension listed in the Telephone Number field as XXXX (all have four digits) that begin with 5xxx

I am interested in how I can populate these fields in Lync correctly via a normalization .txt file. 

Also some users, have the same above except the DID is 800.xxx.xxxx, ext. 5xxx populated in the Office Field in ADUC and the Telephone Number is same. 

Also, any exact examples would be greatly appreciated.

Contact Card, TimeZone

Hello everyone

I am trying to figure out how the whole Contact Card system is working, and more importantly why it is showing my current timezone as Rome.

I guess my question is simple, how do you change the timezone on the contact cards?

Also if anyone can explain how the contact card system is working that would be great. Is the contact card that is shown in Lync the same that is showing in Outlook? If so is the contact card system a separate service that is running on both the Lync Server and the Exchange server?

Lync 2013 users not getting telephone and mobile numbers in lync contact card

hi,

we recently migrated lync 2010 to 2013, everything working fine now, except address book  , now lync 2010 was decommissioned,  we have Exchange 2010

Problem: telephone and mobile numbers not showing on lync client for users which is only enabled for lync , if we create mailbox for same users , we are getting telephone numbers and mobile numbers as well,

Lync Contacts not appearing in Lync 2010 after user is moved to Lync 2013

Good Morning,

Our company recently migrated all of our users to Lync 2013 from Lync 2010.   Most of our clients are still running the Lync 2010 client on their workstations.  There is an ongoing project where we are upgrading to Office 2013 as well.

When a user signs into Lync, clicks on their contacts, the list is blank. They see their frequent contacts and are able to search for people.   Some people are able to manage their contacts through OWA 2013 since we have the integration in place. If they try to add contacts in Lync, they receive the message:

Cannot Add, Remove or move contacts or groups at this time. Please try again later.


I have tried going into the %appdata%\Microsoft\communicator directory and deleting the .cache and .idx and opening Lync again and still they do not appear.

Found this article:  https://support.microsoft.com/kb/2757458?wa=wsignin1.0, but we cannot role people back to Lync 2010.  So they will just have to live with it until they receive Lync 2013 and  use OWA 2013 to manage them until their office client is upgraded.


How 'pin to frequent contacts' work in lync?

Hello ,

There are some people who are not in my contacts but I want to tag their status to get alerts just for a day or two as to work with or under them.If I pin them to frequent contacts I still can tag their status to alert without adding them in my microsoft contact list.

My question is will person get notified if I pin him/her to frequent contact list.

Hi Team,

I have nearly 100 lync users in my network.
To configure Lync for a new user i need to enter all the lync contacts one by one.
Is there any easy way to get all the contacts auto synchronised for a new user?
Any help would be appreciated.

Lync Contact Card - Organization details

Hi,

In Lync contact Card when we open/expand, we are able to see 5 tabs as Contact, Notes, Organization,What's New and Membership.

In this "Organization" is showing the details of Manager and Team members who are sharing the same Manager and hierarchy continues till the last level.

I would like to know, is this information is static or created on need basis.

If its static and stored somewhere, pls suggest how to get the details.

Objective is to get the details of hierarchy level mapped. Pls suggest the way how we can get it.

Help me, please!

Scenario: Migration from OCS 2007 RTM to OCS 2007 R2

Target: Keep user contact list (I'm talking about only OCS contact list from internal organization users, I'm not refer about external addresses)

Question: I want to know if when I move a user from OCS 2007 RTM to OCS 2007 R2 the user contact list is also migrated?

If Yes, can you share the Microsoft documentation that describe it?

So, after I migrate the users to OCS 2007 R2, finally I can do a supported migration to Lync Server 2013.

Normalized phones not visible in client

Hello all,

we updated the client to Skype For Business and in this client don't see 5-digit numbers in contact cards.

We have a lync 2010 server,  
For users we set Work phones as internal 5-digit number
On server we have a file Company_Phone_Number_Normalization_Rules.txt with the text:
(\d{5})
$1

Everything is ok with lync 2010 client and lync 2013, but when we updated to SkypeForBusiness client those numbers are gone.

Are there in solution/fixes for that?

Lync 2013 / Skype for Business avatar problem

Hello there,

we’ve experienced a quite strange problem. When setting own user picture in Exchange OWA 2013 the picture right away is visible in SfB (Skype for Business) and everything work. The problem when deleting this picture in OWA it never vanishes from SfB. Also when setting a new picture the new picture also shows in SfB BUT then deleting this picture again in OWA the very first picture comes back. I’ve tried to delete all kind of caches (Lync / Outlook / OAB) in Explorer and Registry already but it just does not help. I’m quite sure that this is a local problem because we I sign in to another client computer with the same account the empty user picture is showing (as it should). Is there any way to get rid of this somewhere cached picture? It’s obviously not a problem at the server side.

Lync Client Address Book not Updating

I just deployed a Lync server on my network for a group of test users to start with until we work out all of the bugs and then deploying it throughout the entire building. I have worked out every problem I was having except one with the GAL.

After the user has logged on and the GAL file is created on their computer, it never updates with new names. I have run theUpdate-CsAddressBook on the servers. I have checked the Get-CsUserReplicatorConfiguration and the results are this:

Identity:                                  Global

Then running the Get-CsAddressBookConfiguration the results are:

RunTimeOfDay:                     12:00 AM

UseNormalizationRules:           True

IgnoreGenericRules:                False

EnableFileGeneration:              True

I have ensure that all the computers and servers have the correct registry key setting where the GalDownloadInitialDelay is set to 0. However, no ones Gal files (located inC:\Users\<user profile>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Communicator\sip_name@domain) update after the initial creation when they first log into Lync. I have left it over night for 2 nights with some of the user accounts to see if they update automatically and they do not. The only way I can get them to see the new people in the GAL are by deleting the GAL files on the local machine and having them restart Lync. That is not going to be possible with 100's of users everytime we get someone new in the building.

How do I configure the servers to automatically update the Clients GAL Files???

Hi,

We currently have Lync configured for internal use (.local sip domain, no edge server). Policy for every user is PC-to-PC

One of the users received a call from external #. Doesn't show the contact just phone # - 36XXXXXX78

I can't figure out how would that happen.
