Hi folks,

should I remove lync profile and configure again, sometimes it not resolved

should I update address book from command shell, will it impact to all users?

Server info - Lync server 2013

Client - 2013

please help to resolve the issue and what's workaround to resolve it.

Lync 2010 Client Not Downloading Address Book

Hi All,

I'm having an issue with Lync downloading the GAL and hoping someone can help me.

Ok the issue is straight forward the resolution however seems to be far from simple. I should start by saying that I can search for the sip name registered in Lync server and that works but when I search for their name it doesn't.

Here is the setting which I understand is a bit strange but that’s just how it’s been setup.

Windows Server 2012 R2

Microsoft Lync 2010

SQL Server 2008

SQL Server 2014 (not sure why both were installed but it seems to all work except the address book)

There is a separate partition for Lync Data which in the top layer has the following folders “CsData, MS Lync Server 2010, RtcReplicaRoot and Share” the folder share then has “1-ApplicationServer-1, 1-CentralMgmt-1 and 1-WebServices-1”

Here is a list of all the things I have tried.

1. This I think is the problem!

I ran "Test-CSAddressBookService" and "Test-CSAddressBookWebQuery" and got the following results.

TargetUri  :
TargetFqdn : Server.domain.local
Result     : Failure
Latency    : 00:00:00
Error      : 403, Forbidden
Diagnosis  : ErrorCode=4004,Source= Server.domain.local,Reason=Credentials
provided are not authorized to act as specified from URI
             Microsoft.Rtc.Signaling.DiagnosticHeader

Am I right in thing that there should be a "TargetUri" there? if so, how do I enter one?

2. When I navigate to the abs handler address https ://ServerName.Domain.Local:443/abs/handler I get error 500 internal server error

When I navigate to the abs address https://ServerName.Domain.Local:443/abs I get the HTML directory structure.

3. I have made sure that I have permissions to the “Abs” structure in IIS for both internal and external and permissions for the shared files.

4. I have tried to resolve it from the client side but the GAL DB files don’t exist. I have also checked the “GAL Status” in configuration information” and that displays “https://ServerName.Domain.Local:443/abs/handler

5. I have turned AV and firewalls off. Due complex settings to keep out crypto locker out it was best to check but still nothing.

6. I found a guide referring to certificates which I didn’t really understand as MMC didn’t show a cert for lync yet “get-cscertificate” found 3 which had no wildcards but had all the correct names entered.

Cross Federation AddressBook

I am currently on Lync2010 on premise, Enterprise, full redundancy, FE, DIR, Edge, Mediation. We are running Open Federation and communicate everyday with hundreds of partners.

The question has been posed to me on finding a way to enable a cross federation AddressBook. I have seen that there are cloud services like NextPlane, which will provide the ability to synchronize users to a directory for federated partners to use.

Of course there is the option of managing contact of external contact with SIP addresses, but I prefer to avoid this.

Are there other options for establishing a shared UC address book with federated partners? Does S4B provide this functionality? IF both federated partners sync'd their directory to azure, could that be used?

What options are available now?

Thanks!

Tom.

cant add any user to lync 2013

Hi hello

after installed lync 2013  i cant add any user and got this error:

Active Directory operation failed on "ActiveDirctory.mehr.lab". You cannot retry this operation: "Insufficient access rights to perform the operation
00002098: SecErr: DSID-03150BC1, problem 4003 (INSUFF_ACCESS_RIGHTS), data 0
".You do not have the appropriate permissions to perform this operation in Active Directory. One possible cause is that the Lync Server Control Panel and Remote Windows PowerShell cannot modify users who belong to protected security groups (for example, the Domain Admins group). To manage users in the Domain Admins group, use the Lync Server Management Shell and log on using a Domain Admins account. There are other possible causes. For details, see Lync Server 2010 Help.

thank u all.

lsabs file not found - Return 404 to client

I am running Lync Enterprise Server with June 2012 CU. Recently some users have started reporting issues with Address Book. Often users get exclamation mark which says:

"Cannot Synchronize with the corporate address book because the file could not be found. Contact your support team with this information"

For each user if I delete Galcontact.db and download it again this error goes away, but that is not feasible to do for hundreds of users.

I tried Lync logging and found various traces which confirmed that requests are going to lsabs files which doesn't exists in Lync share for that pool (we have multiple pools). However there are no ABS Synch errors in Lync Server event logs.

Here is a trace:

TL_ERROR(TF_COMPONENT) [13]3618.34D4::07/17/2012-17:07:52.471.00082b86 (ABServerHttpHandler,AbsHttpHandler.ProcessRequest:httphandler.cs(228))(00000000021B994F)File not found \\servername\Lyncshare\1-WebServices-4\ABFiles\00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000\00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000\C-1066-1077.lsabs. Return 404 to client

Can somebody please help?

Hello Microsoft,

I synced MS Lync on my laptop which I lost later on and the lync is still synced in that laptop.

The person who holds that laptop is able to send messages to my contacts even though I changed my credentials.

Please help urgently considering it as priority because the same person can use my identity.

Don't hesitate to revert in case further information required from my end.

Questions on Reverse number Lookup from Outlook contacts

$

Hi Experts,

Please have a look at the below scenarios:

1. Users A and B or corporate users. User A’s mobile number is published in AD and included within lync contact card – hence available within lync address book of all other users. User A joins a meeting organised by User B from his mobile.
2. User C is an external PSTN user (not in corporate AD) and User B has added User A’s Name and phone number (in E.164) as an outlook contact. User A joins User B’s meeting from PSTN.

Questions:

1. Is the name resolution (Reverse number look up) will also depend on the outlook contacts?
2. If so, what logic it follows in the background?

Please advise. Many thanks.

Hiding Contacts from Lync Server 2013 Address Book not working

Hello All,

I  am trying to hide 2 contacts from the Lync serve AB but can't make it work.

I was following

http://www.justin-morris.net/how-to-hide-users-from-the-lync-address-book/

Environment: Lync 2013 FE pool which consists of 1 servers since it's  test environment. I am using the  following attribute to filter. Have populated this info to the user AD account

ABS Configuration Tool: added and enabled that attribute. Initially, I didn't select any parameter for "OC Field Name" but I later I set "Description" as the parameter.

I have restarted the RTCSRV services, ran update-csuserdatabase and then after waiting a while ran update-csaddressbook. Deleted another test  user's GAL contact DBs to force a redownload of the updated AB files but no success. I still can see the contacts in GAL.

Can anyone please give some light on this issue. I am not sure if that "OC Field Name" has something to do with the issue?

Any help will be appreciated.

Imrul

Lync address book issue for only some users across the org

hi there,

we have around 10K Lync users in our infra, out of which only 5 users are having  address book issue.
It appears the below error message and search never happens in Lync address book.

1. only 5 users are affected with the above error and the issue is unresolved even after I tried whatever the steps that are explained in the articles.

http://blog.insidelync.com/2012/02/lync-address-book-client-synchronization-errors-and-common-problems/

http://blog.schertz.name/2010/09/updating-the-lync-2010-address-book/

2. its not desktop related issue, because from these computers, addressbook is working fine for other SIP IDs.

3. I tried in multiple computers but for this 5 users address book download is never hapenning in any computers, so I strongly beleive this issue is to be fixed from server side.

4. I moved these 5 users to different pool, but no luck.

anyone please advise if you have any approch or resolutions to this issue.

Search Failed Because Of Configuration Issues With The Address Book Server

One of my users is reporting an error when searching for contacts within the organization. Everytime he searches for another user lync pops up with the following error.

Lookup Error

No one else in our entire user base has reported this error so far.

We have reset his IE settings and his lync profile on the local machine.

Any help will be appreciated

Web search only, and number normalization

$

Hi,

I have enabled the web Search for one test user, and found the following problem:

When user type the phone number 0123456789, the Lync will normalise the number to "+358123456789" but no contacts can be found.

When user type the phone number +358123456789, the Lync founds the contact.

When using the GAL search, both formats find correct contact.

Is this something that Lync client send to the Web Search the number I have typed, and not the number which is normalized?
