Problem to sync contact's phone informations from Outlook's local contact into Lync 2010 even though im running the latest lync version

$

After 6 days of no respons, proberly due to im posting in a thread that has been answered I have descided to make a new thread.

Im talking about the issue mentioned in this thread:

http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/ocsaddressbook/thread/d134cd0d-3434-4870-9e6a-98894793e25e

I have the same issue but I am running with the latest version of Lync as were marked as the answer in the other thread.

Here is my added problem description:

When im in the state where the contact information is not showing and I right click the contact and choose "Open outlook Contact" my lync client brings up and error saying:

Cannot connect to Microsoft Office Outlook to view contact properties because Ooutlook is not responding. Please close any open Outlook dialog boxes and try again. If the problem continues, please contact your support team

After the error i can't add anymore contact that are locally stored in outlook. In order to get it to work again I need to remove the contact from my lync contact list and relog into lync. After error i can still add Exchange contacts.

I have my own thread on this issue here: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/ocsclients/thread/4b6852f6-2ebd-4ead-8ae6-8b2a641f5b45

But I figured this thread explains better my issue. Even though my problem is bit "larger" then the one described here based on the crashe described above.

I have installed the lastet patch for lync som im running the correct version.

Im in a Windows 7 SP1 64 bit enviroment with a Office 2010 32 bit. My Lync is 32 Bit.

I have tried to add the country code to my outlook contact but that didn't help.

Any help would appriciated

Hello all.

I'm preparing myself, both technically as mentally, to start with the upgrade of the Lync Server 2010 to the 2013.

So, I've been checking all the tips and tricks i can find on Technet and i came across with a problem.

I was trying to do backup to what i have right now, but on my Lync Server management shell the command dbimpexp.exe is not recognized.

I have the resource kit installed and i can see the file on my C:, but i get this error.

Can anyone tel me what I'm missing here?

Do I need to perform any addiotional command prior to this one, maybe load some .ps1 file or something like that.

Thanks in advance

Hello,

we´ve tried almost every possible Solution posted in this forum for this error, but nothing helps.

Our Enviroment:

- Migration OCS 2007 R2 to Lync 2010

- Lync 2010 Standard Edition with actual Updates

- Topologies are merged and functional

- 3 Users are migrated from OCS Database to Lync Database

- The same 3 Users have Lync Client installed (Version 4.0.7577.314 --> cumulative update package for Lync 2010: July 2011, OS: Windows 7, Two with IE9, one with IE8)

Error:

- On Every Lync Client: Cannot Synchronize Corporate Adress Book

Troubleshooting steps:

- No Errors or Warnings on the Lync Server or Client Event logs

- All Lync Services start successfull

- Lync Clients GAL path: https://lync01.ourdomain.de:443/abs/handler

- Adress Book Path: \\lync01.ourdoamin.de\Dateifreigabe\1-WebServices-1\ABFiles

--> there are actual Adress Book files: .lsabs, .dabs, PHOTO

--> We´ve checked the Share and NTFS Permissions

- Lync Server is in the Proxy Exclusion list of the clients

- We´ve deleted the the GalContacts.db and Galcontacts.db.idx and set the registry key for Synchronization on Startup, but they are not recreated

- IIS Logs show us no Errors, but also no trys to download the adress book files, onyl PHOTO files where sometimes downloaded

Lync 2010 Client/Outlook Contact Card not displaying correctly.

I'm having a hard time trying to figure out how to get Users Phone numbers to display in the Lync Contact Card correctly.

Lync Deploymnet:
Forrest Root: Domain.net
SIP Domain: Domain.com
1 Enterprise (CU March 2013) Server in Site1 - Domain: Child1.domain.net - US

1 Standard Server (CU March 2013) in Site 2 - Domain: Child2.domain.net - Europe

1 Standard Server (CU March 2013) in Site 3 - Domain: Child2.domain.net - Europe

1 Standard Server (CU March 2013) in Site 4 - Domain: Child3.domain.net - Korea

The Lync Contact Card displayed from Lync Client displays phone numbers from the US Site without issue.
All other numbers leave off the extension.

US Numbers:+1555555555 x55555 - Displays Correctly.

European Numbers: +33155555555 x65555 - only displays +33155555555

Korean Numbers: +82255555555 x75555 - only displays +82255555555

Which I believe are in the E.164 format.

I've tried several times to create Normalization rules using the Company_Phone_Number_Normalization_Rules.txt in the ABFiles directory and it doesn't make a difference.

I have seen that when I close Lync and Outlook and then delete the C:\Users\User1\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Communicator\sip_user1@domain.com folder and then Open the Lync Client again I see the information displayed correctly. I've adjusted by Lync Address book update to happen frequently so I can see the affect of changes I make. I'll then start Outlook and after a couple minutes I'll see Phone Numbers for the other regions stop displaying correctly.

Can anyone determine what I'm missing or have some ideas on how to progress towards resolution?

I've referenced the following sites:

http://blog.schertz.name/2010/09/updating-the-lync-2010-address-book/
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg429691(v=ocs.14).aspx

http://blogs.perficient.com/microsoft/2007/11/enabling-custom-phone-number-normalization-with-the-address-book-service/

I wouldn't mind finding a definitive source that describes how Active Directory, Lync, & Exchange/Outlook interact to display this information and a reliable way to troubleshoot where the information is being pulled from and why it isn't displaying correctly.

Address book not getting downloaded

Hi All,

My lync clients  (all) are not able to download the address books. On the server i could see the new files being generated at 1:30 PM and the file share has everyone full share permission and read&execute, list folder contents, and read NTFS permissions.

When i delete the Galcontacts and galcontacts.db.idx files with GalDownloadInitialDelay set to 0 the new files get downloaded and i could see the new contacts.

when i past the https://fqdn.abs/handler i get an error - 403 - Forbidden: Access is denied.

You donot have permission to view this direcoty or page using the credentials that you supplied.

The FE server has trusted certificate installed, the fqdn is by passed in the IE.

I wonder someone can help me with this

Address Book issue with non-enabled users

$

Hi,

I am new to Lync and have set up a Standard Edition Front End server with only Presence/IM. I have successfully configured Cisco CUPS Partitioned Intra-domain Federation with Lync. This means that all users are part of the same domain with some users assigned to Cisco CUPS (Jabber client) and some assigned to Lync.

If I manually add the SIP address to Lync, I can see the presence and chat with the Cisco Jabber user. The problem is is that even though the Jabber user is part of AD, I cannot see any other info like First Name, Last Name.

Can Lync only search for contacts that are Lync-Enabled?

I have tried adding an E.164 number to the user but that results in the AD contact showing up in Lync with the phone icon (so no SIP address). I have also tried adding the SIP: address to the ProxyAddress attribute in AD (not required for CUPS/Jabber) but no luck.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

When I enter a number in the Lync client, it immediately tries to start matching results.  Is the Lync client referencing the GalContacts.db or the Company_Phone_Number_Normalization_Rules.txt in the ABFiles directory?

Extracting data from Access to Excel using WHERE condition

$

I am trying to extract data from my access database into excel. I want to have a filter so that only data with a specific date is extracted. I try to include a WHERE condition for this reason.

When I run the following code, only the headers of my tables are extracted (1 row).

When I change Date=03/09/2013 to another condition like Index=SPX, I get all the data corresponding to SPX extracted which is what I want to happen but ith the date.

Any idea's why this might be happening? Code is as follows:

Sub ADOFromAccessToExcel()
Dim conn As ADODB.Connection, rec As ADODB.Recordset
Dim Cols As Integer
Dim DBName As String
Dim Extract As Range

DBName = "C:\Documents and Settings\uname\Desktop\Access DB\Yield2.mdb;"

Set Extract = Sheets("Sheet2").Range("A1")
Set conn = New ADODB.Connection
conn.Open "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0; Data Source=" & DBName & ";"

Set rec = New ADODB.Recordset
rec.Open "SELECT * FROM SPX WHERE Date=03/09/2013; ", conn, , , adCmdText

For Cols = 0 To rec.Fields.Count - 1
    Extract.Offset(1, Cols).Value = rec.Fields(Cols).Name
Next

Extract.Offset(1, 0).CopyFromRecordset rec

rec.Close
Set rec = Nothing
conn.Close
Set conn = Nothing

End Sub

Lync - My own mobile number shown in receivers display

Hello ! Is it possible to let my mobil number show in receivers display when i call them ? (when callin people outside my office). When calling external now, only "Lync number" is shown in receviers display.

External Lync client can't fetch address book

Whenever I connect Lync using Internet instead of LAN, Lync gives the error that it can't sync with the corporate address book. First thing I thought was that the external address book URL was not reachable, but this wasn't the case.

Checking Lync configuration Information (CTRL right-click on Lync icon in system tray and selecting Configuration Information) I checked both internal and external ABS URL's were there and were correct, this was the case. However under GAL Status the internal ABS URL was displayed instead of the external URL which I was expecting because Inside User Status was FALSE.

It looks like Lync is trying the internal URL instead of the external internet URL. I will verify this with Wireshark later on.

What can I do to fix this? Is there a way to test the ABS URL from the browser like with OCS 2007? If i go to the URL specified in the configuration (https://pool.domain.com/abs/handler), I get an access denied. This happens with both the internal and external URL.

Address Book GAL status is shown as the internal address

I have an issue with the GAL address book address being set to the internal address in OCS 2007 R2. I need it to be set to an external address so that external users can access this correctly. Does anyone know how to do this? I have tried with WBEMTEST and it continually crashes when I try to access the DB to change this account.

Does anyone know how to change this or to fix the error that I am getting when trying to access the DB via WBEMTEST.

Thanks

Mike

Lync click to call

We are having an issue with Lync click to call. It is only periodically and not all the time. Sometimes when you right click on a contact, go to call, Lync will only show Lync call and not all numbers for a contact. Is there something that could be corrupt?

Can't get phone numbers to consistently populate from AD on the Lync clients

$

I'm having trouble getting phone numbers to consisntently appear on our Lync clients. We have Lync Server 2010 and both 2010 and 2013 clients.

It appears that after I set up a normalization rule, all of the 2010 clients started working. The phone numbers show up in the correct format and all updated numbers get pulled from AD. I'm having mixed results with the 2013 clients.

Every new install of a 2013 client (both on Win7 & 8) works. On my personal computer, when I first set it up with Win 8 and office 2013, I was able to see all of the phone numbers in Lync. One day it just quit working. So far there is (1) PC with Win8 and Lync 2013 that works, and (3) with Win8 and Lync 2013 that don't work. It seems like the normalization file does nothing for these. When the file is active, more numbers show up, but it's not 100%.

I've tried repairing the office installation and removing the antivirus program. If I run the Lync 2010 client on the same machine, everything works fine. It seems to point to an issue with 2013 client, but I can't quite say that for sure.

Does anyone smarter than me care to suggest something? Thanks,

On some Lync clients the presense component - "activity token" and "out of office message" not updated for particular contact.

Hello,

We have few Mac Lync clients and the rest are Windows 7 Lync 2010\2013 clients. The server is Lync 2010. One of the Mac users configured OOO message in Outlook and after getting back to the office disabled it. Few day later he created new OOO autoreply and then disabled it also. Now, several weeks later some of Lync clients show his contact with pink star on the icon, "out of office" status and old OOO message. The bizarre thing is the issue follows the user. Let's say user A sees the contact in question correctly and the user B not. I have my test Windows 7 PC with both Lync 2010 and 2013 clients installed. If I sign-in to either Lync version with user A credentials I can see the contact in question presense correctly and no pink star, no OOO message. If I sign-in with user B credentials there is a pink star, OOO and "out of office" status. That makes me think the problem is somewhere on the server, not the client side. I have performed all basic steps like removed GAL from the client, updated Address Book and DB on the server and such with zero sucsess. One more detail - when the contact in question is online everyone sees hm as available - green icon, but again, some see pink star on it and old OOO.

Any ideas where to start on this?

Thank you

ABS config tool and multiple filters

Hi all, a little stuck at the moment, I'm trying to figure out how to "hide" certain recipients that must show up in the GAL, but be hidden in LYNC. I currently use the filter that:

"only includes users that have a value for this AD attribute - showInAddressBook"

Would be great if I could combine that with an exclude for a custom AD attribute. Is there a way to use multiple filters or set AND/OR statements? I tries searching in powershell, but it seems these settings are only configurable via the ABS Configuration tool? Please tell me I'm not stuck :D

thanks

Delete contact or contact group

Hello!

We have populate the contact list for company users by using this tool

http://www.expta.com/2011/01/introducing-lyncaddcontacts.html

How can I delete contact or group?

If there are a script, or maybe there some vbs/ps  code available  to accomplish this?

Can I delete contact from SQL database?

Multiple phone numbers are listed as 'work' in contact list

$

In our Active Directory we store phone numbers in following attributes:
- telephoneNumber
- otherTelephone

Recently we swapped the phone numbers in the 'telephoneNumber' to the 'otherTelephone' attribute, and inserted a new phone number in the 'telephoneNumber' attribute.

In the Lync client > Options > Phones, these phone numbers are correctly displayed.
- The 'telephoneNumber' number is mapped on the 'Work phone'.
- The 'otherTelephone' number is mapped on the 'Other phone'.
Checkmarks for 'Include in my contact card' are checked.

However, when doing a search through the Lync contact list, both numbers are displayed as 'Work'.

We would like to have one of the phone numbers categorized as 'Work', and the other phone number as 'Other' in the above call-window.

We already tried cleaning our server caches to make sure there is no old data is stored (http://blog.concurrency.com/unified-communications/how-to-completely-delete-and-refresh-lync-server-2010-address-book-files/):
- Deleted all Address Book files on the LyncShare
- Ran Update-CSUserDatabase (multiple times)
- Ran Update-CSAddressBook (multiple times)

We also cleaned the AB cache on several Lync clients (http://blog.schertz.name/2010/09/updating-the-lync-2010-address-book):
- Adding registry key GalDownloadInitialDelay
- Deleting the GalContacts.db and GalContacts.db.idx files.

Also we noticed that Lync could merge Outlook contact information with AD contact information in the Lync client. Therefore, we made sure the contact was deleted from Outlook to avoid this could be an issue.
We also set the CsClientPolicy 'ExcludeContactFolders' to "Contacts", to avoid the Lync client searching in Outlook contacts.

We also checked the contactcard information on the server, exported with DBImpExp.exe (http://www.lync-blog.nl/?p=555&lang=en). The Contact information exported with DBImpExp.exe is shown correctly categorized as 'Work' and 'Other. But in the Lync client it is thus shown diffently.

We do have normalization rules configured to allow importing non-E.164-formats from AD to Lync.

All of the above did not help however.
The phone numbers still keep BOTH appearing a 'work' in the Lync contact list... :(

Any ideas about other possible reasons of this behaviour?

Is that +E.164 Format?

+7 (xxx) xx xx xx (xx xxxx)

I  have the above telephone format created in AD.  I want the same to be displayed in lync clients.

What  normalization rule I need to create for that?

Thanks.

How to delete "Lync Contacts" in Outlook 2013?

Hi,

I'm using Lync 2013 and outlook 2013, the backend system is Exchange Server 2013 and Lync Server 2010.

I found that in Outlook 2013 People tab, there's a "Lync Contacts" folder under "My Contacts", which is created by Lync 2010 client enabled by option "Save my Lync contacts in my personal contacts folder on Exchange", and when I want to delete any contact under "Lync Contacts", a pop-up windows displayed and said: you cannot make changes to contents of this read-only folder.

I reinstalled Lync 2010 client back, and check the option "Save my Lync contacts in my personal contacts folder on Exchange" is not selected.

So, anyone can tell me how to delete the "Lync Contacts"?
